In all my games, my PC runs exceptionally well except for Fortnite???
Hello everyone, I’m facing a really bothersome issue with my PC. In every game I play, it works perfectly—especially in titles like 3080—but in Fortnite things go haywire. I experience strange frame drops and occasional freezes, as if the system is stuck at 200fps and then suddenly jumps to 10fps for a brief moment before returning to normal. It’s super frustrating, and I’ve tried everything. Even switching to Windows 11 didn’t help. I’ve tested three graphics cards in an attempt to resolve the problem. The 3080 seems fine for most games, while the others performed poorly. Please share some suggestions—I’m running out of options. Thanks.
Request complete hardware details. The "3080" alone doesn't capture the full setup. A faulty CPU or insufficient RAM might be causing the frame drops.
I recently played Fortnite on a repaired PC. Successfully ran high/ultra settings on an i5-7400 with 1x8GB RAM and a 1060 3GB at 1440p, exceeding 100fps. Initially faced some texture streaming problems—trying to enable/disable it might help you download high-res textures from the Epic store without interruptions. Also investigate whether a framerate cap appears in-game at Matt129's post.
I'm using an i5 10400f with 32GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz, paired with an MSI Gaming Z Trio 12GB RAM.
It could also occur in other titles; if it's limited to Fortnite, it might be a mod or corrupted file affecting your experience.
It's a completely new Windows setup and I haven't applied any changes. That must be confusing.
It usually occurs during movement or major events. Is that correct? If yes, it's the developers handling it, not your computer.
It seems this happens mainly when I move around. Can I do anything about it? It used to be fine, but it started after upgrading from the 1060 to the 2080ti. That model felt unstable, so I returned it and then my 1060 began experiencing the issue again. Now I own the 3080 and it keeps happening. Do you think this is related to a ping problem? I have the FPS counter active in Fortnite, showing brief drops to around 10fps before recovering.
It seems the application is loading in a large portion of the world at once when you reach that location. If you notice this pattern near the same spot, it might be the cause. Otherwise, I can't confirm. It's possible they refreshed the game after an update or shortly after upgrading, making loading slower than before. The issue could also stem from how the game is programmed. Watch for similar occurrences—like dropping to 10 frames per second on a specific hill and the same distance elsewhere.
