Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on improving the internet speed in my home. My parents spend a lot on fast internet but are still frustrated because their router is limited by thick walls and a subpar modem at one end of the flat. The space is about 120 square meters with solid walls and a small garden. Ceiling mounts aren’t an option, and running Ethernet isn’t feasible either. I’m considering two solutions: a strong access point in the center connected via powerline or MoCA, or setting up a WiFi mesh network using a compatible device. I’d love your thoughts on which approach works best and any recommended gear. Thanks!

the house includes cable tele wiring throughout its major areas. if available, deploy a MoCA with an AP covering all zones and enable 802.11r for seamless connectivity. otherwise, rely on powerline which may result in a less reliable experience across multiple devices. physical barriers like thick walls can block signals, so treat wifi as line-of-sight only—without visibility, performance suffers.

For wall issues, I recommend some PLC Wi-Fi extenders for areas with weak signals.
