My CPU runs at full capacity most of the time. I enjoy playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Destiny 2. Openworldgames, thanks!

The problem lies because your MediOn motherboard appears to handle CPUs only up to 65 watts, as noted in MediOn forums. Could you provide the specific model number of your MediOn PC? That would help narrow down the search.

I don’t see it even on the medions website... sorry... the details aren’t clear. You might try adding an i7 6700, but I can’t confirm that. The documentation seems missing or outdated. A more affordable used option could work, though compatibility proof is hard to find. I noticed someone on a forum who has a similar motherboard and a 6700 running—maybe you could reach out to them for advice. There’s also a chance you could get it cheaper at an eBay auction with a bit of patience.

Upgrading your CPU can definitely be a smart move depending on your needs.

Taking the latest hardware into account, yes—given the challenges with running apps in the background during games, your motherboard is the main constraint. The budget also prevents upgrading to a new GPU. Your existing graphics card performs better than any new option you could afford.
