I’m experiencing poor performance and am considering an upgrade. I’ve already purchased other upgrades (16gb ram, ssd for Warzone, better cooler). Here’s my current setup:
i5-4590
MSI Gtx 1650 OC
8gb ddr3 4x2 1600mhz
Warzone on 7500rpm hdd 3.5"
Intel H81 mobo
Stock Intel cooler
I’ve added more RAM to prevent stuttering, but with the same CPU I’m still at full usage and it’s not ideal. I’d prefer higher GPU utilization instead. Would an i7-4790k be a good upgrade from the i5-4590 for around 100 dollars?
I expect about 2mb more cache, a 0.6 mhz higher base clock, and hyperthreading. Could this improve my performance in Warzone? I’ve heard it uses multiple threads, so maybe the increased threads and clock speed will help the GPU perform better.

I've noticed the same good results with my 6900xt and 5900x even at 1440p. Hope you're doing well. Regarding the 4590-4790k, it doesn't seem to be worth that much.

I've noticed Warzone played on a 4790K with a 1650 setting, but it was a Hispanic player using Spanish options, so I don't know their graphics preferences. The frame rate was acceptable, but the visuals didn't stand out much, suggesting the settings were probably quite low.

If your PC is running outdated components and/or has limited GPU power, and you're attempting to run tough modern titles, upgrading hardware is often necessary. Right now, GPU costs are dropping, though they still have a long way to go before prices return to normal levels.

The time it takes for prices to settle might depend on factors like the situation with COVID cases and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The global economy remains challenging, making major upgrades difficult unless you find reliable sources for gently used gear at reasonable prices.
