System details: Amd phenom 2 x4 965, 4GB Corsair memory, 260 MHz DDR3, GTX 260 graphics, OCX, Stream Pro 600W, Gigabyte HD 300GB SSD. Looking to boost performance and play games occasionally—no need to switch to AM4, just tips for faster operation. Appreciate any advice!

Fast refers to high performance and quick responsiveness. For gaming, you should look for an SSD, more RAM, and possibly a lighter Linux distro such as Xubuntu. A newer GPU like the 750 Ti would also improve your experience.

Boost performance beyond limits on the CPU, but consider upgrading to a more efficient cooler. Replace the older GTX 260 with a modern GPU like the RX 460, 470, 560 or 570 for improved results.

It had a cooling pad but failed, so a good tower cooler might work. I’ll keep an eye on those GPUs.

Consider affordable 120mm 4 heatpipe towers such as the Se 224 XT, Freezer 34, Pure Rock 2. If better deals exist from Chinese manufacturers, they’re worth exploring too.

After dealing with some trouble, the GTX 260 seems to be dead—surprising, but a solid 480 replacement works well with my worn-out power supply.

Rx 480 works well as an alternative for the GTX 480. It should help with running the thermi nuclear reactor and managing its cooling needs.
