Are you missing something? more important question, is the new motherboard giving you something that you are currently missing? As long as the PC is working fine and you can play and do what ever you like to, me personally, wouldn't bother if you already plan on getting a new rig in a year.

The upgrade would only make sense if the existing board limits the CPU's maximum performance or causes throttling. Games typically experience frame drops, and completely eliminating them isn't usually possible—just reducing their occurrence. First assess whether the issue stems from a performance shortfall or if your setup is handling the game as intended.

I don't believe it's worthwhile. If upgrading is necessary, I'd save some money by choosing a reliable B450 motherboard such as the MSI Tommahawk. Consider selling your RAM and installing a faster 2x8 3600 kit.
