I recently started playing PC games again after a 13-year hiatus, mainly to enjoy time with my son. My previous machine was older, so I upgraded it with a newer setup. I purchased a used Dell XPS featuring an i7-6700 processor and 64 GB of RAM. I replaced the power supply and installed a Vega 64 graphics card gifted by a friend. However, I’m not achieving the performance I expected. I’m seeking advice on how to maximize my current system. Could you suggest possible solutions? Also, is it the Dell motherboard that’s limiting my results? I have an ASUS board available, but I’d need a different case for compatibility.

Do you have particular titles in mind that aren’t delivering the expected performance? What are the target metrics (frames per second and resolution)? Understanding this assists in determining whether the issue lies with the CPU or GPU.

I've been enjoying Fortnite STW with my son and a friend. My main screen uses a Dell monitor at 1440p and 144Hz, but I only manage around 70 to 80 FPS. When I switch to a second monitor for YouTube or other content, the performance drops significantly. Sometimes even just playing the game feels slow. About half the time it works fine, but I always hope for perfect consistency.
