Hey everyone, I own a modem, not fiber. I didn’t choose fiber because it’s too slow in my area and costs a lot—like 8 Mbps for $20 a month. My family and I switched to modem, but it works fine in some places. Gaming is the biggest issue; I get 66 Mbps download and about 11 Mbps upload, yet I still face the same lag or worse than my old fiber Wi-Fi. I tried upgrading my antenna, which cut the ping from 390 to 340, that helped a bit. But when I talk about gaming speeds, people say pings around 32ms, 56ms, or 70ms. Maybe they’re closer to the servers. I’ve tried QoS settings, changed my APN, even bought a gigabit LAN, but nothing changed much. I really want low latency and fast speeds, like 10 Gbps Wi-Fi, but I’m not rich or poor—I’m just a normal family trying to get better service. Hopefully someone has a solution I can try. I’d love to hear any tips that could lower my ping.

It seems the internet in your area has slow response times. I'm fortunate to enjoy affordable and reliable connectivity, especially since I'm in Europe where ping is typically lower. When servers are nearby, it's around 30-60 ms; from the US, it ranges from 100 to 200 ms.

It's wired through the provider, while the Wi-Fi is the connection from the router to your PC. The modem is a Huawei B312-926, which is quite good for its price. It feels like it's similar to my previous fiber optic setup, and I've saved a lot of money.

Are you linking to a 4G/LTE cellular network for internet access? If so, high latency is a common issue with such connections. Excuse me. The best solution is to obtain a direct internet connection from the ISP.
