I’ll upgrade to 16 GB RAM, but I need to check which slots are available. DDR type and speed do matter for compatibility, but other factors like motherboard support also play a role.

Confirm whether your computer uses DDR3 or DDR4 memory. The performance difference is minimal, and most systems default to the slower option during installation, making compatibility less of a concern.
