Hey! I just got a 2070 Super to go with my existing 6600K, but it’s causing performance issues. Games like GTA V, Anthem, and Valorant are lagging badly. I’m searching for a CPU in the R3 3300X to R5 3600 range, preferably with hyperthreading. Since streaming isn’t a big deal, I just want something affordable. I’m open to any budget-friendly pick that works with my 2070 Super.

You shouldn't be seeing those drops. My 7600k handles those titles without issues. Hold off on the R5 4600.

Perhaps it starts because he’s switching to single-channel only when memory use goes over 8GB.

I wasn’t prepared for such a drop, but I guess I should assume my CPU isn’t working right. Bad luck with the 4600—I wouldn’t have waited any longer; I’d have joined the army by then, so there’s no chance to use it even if I’d bought it.

I attempted to terminate background programs to lower memory consumption, but the result remained unsatisfactory.

If you can't locate a refurbished i7 7700K under $120, the next logical upgrade would be the upcoming 4th generation Ryzen processors.

No, I didn't use DDU for uninstalling the old video driver.

Are you sure you should try this? I'm willing to attempt it, and I hope it helps you save around $300.
