Hey there! You're already set up with a solid setup—Ryzen 1700, 350b tomahawk MB, and a new 2080 Super. A 3700X is a big jump, but whether it adds noticeable FPS depends on your games and current performance. If you're playing graphically demanding titles, the upgrade could make a difference. It varies by game or tool. If you're playing, checking CPU and GPU stats can show what upgrading might do.

AMD assures the release of Ryzen 4000 processors in 2020, and likely the Nvidia competitor GPU as well. It seems better to wait for the Ryzen 4000 CPUs since they should arrive soon.

It depends, with no information on game, resolution, in-game settings and so on there's no way to tell. Assuming 1080p, yes you would get better performance, only you can know if the difference is worth, but considering that you bought the 2080S I would assume that those 10% performance over the 2070S were important enough to pay a few hundred dollars, so yes it would probably be worth. Assuming 4K, probably it would make almost no difference in most games. 1440p would be in between. Personally I would wait for Zen 3 as it should be the last one on AM4 to get the best of the platform or get some cheaper Zen 2 option when it releases.

Don't waste money on 3rd gen, better wait for 4th gen. With 2080 super you won't see any difference over 100+ fps. The 1700 can still keep up with the gpu.

I agree on waiting for 4th gen. If anything, though, the 3600 (or its replacement) is probably a better choice if you're only gaming.

Still, I recommend waiting to observe what comes next. Assuming corona doesn’t push prices too high yet, you could expect more than a 30% boost in frame rates for most games after the upgrade. The 2080 Super is much newer than first-gen Ryzen and serves as a top-tier GPU while that CPU isn’t.

Thanks for sharing all the details. I'll hold off for now. My CPU hasn't reached 100% usage yet, and I'm still unsure if a quicker Gen3 model would bring noticeable gains.

It could still be around 7nm, incorporating some fresh UV techniques and becoming slightly more compact. Additionally, they emphasize this represents an entirely new core architecture, unlike previous generations where only the first generation was revised.
