You have an older Intel MacBook Pro from 2009, a 20-inch model that was once a college computer. The old hard drive failed, so you swapped it out with a new one, but you're unsure how to install an operating system. You’re looking for help since you don’t have another Mac and don’t have a standard Apple keyboard setup. So far, the machine boots occasionally and displays a folder with a question mark, often showing a blank white screen.

You could try Internet Recovery soon as it’s about to launch, though I’m uncertain if it’s available yet. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+Star...ode/119437 If it doesn’t work, create a Mac OS installation flash drive—this is simpler with another Mac. High Sierra was the final officially supported version for that model, but later versions can be installed via OpenCore Legacy Patcher. https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Lega....html#imac
