Hi there, welcome! You're starting out with networking, which is great. Your idea of connecting all your Macs and printers via Ethernet sounds solid. Using a network switch will help manage the connections better, especially if you plan to print from any device. Checking the switch's specs and ensuring proper cabling should work well. Let me know if you need more details! Thank you in advance for your question.

The key is connecting Macs and printers to the same network. They don't have to share the same switch, but printers must allow Macs to discover them—usually via AirPrint or Bonjour. For printers tied to specific Macs, ensure hostnames are distinct enough for proper identification.

one of the printers is Epson and when i attempted to connect it to the network while keeping the Mac on the same network, i kept trying but the Mac wouldn’t detect it wirelessly even though I’d already installed the printer drivers on the Mac. That’s why i’m considering getting a switch.

Wireless printers are a major issue in the printer industry, so definitely bring that Ethernet cable. They keep changing their IP addresses regularly.

Are you confident that connecting the switch, Mac, and printers through Ethernet will function properly?

If the printers have bonjour or airprint capabilities, they should function properly. I recommend assigning a static IP to the printers to ensure consistent connectivity.
