Hello community! I'm looking for guidance on safely and effectively running an overclocked 4690K and my Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB. The motherboard I use is a Gigabyte Gaming 3 Z97 with 24 gigs of RAM at 1600mhz, and I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler. My main concern is whether I can safely reach stable clock speeds without encountering BSODs.

Consider using RealBench from Asus

It should be possible to confirm, begin with just the CPU, and attempt adjusting the vCore by setting the CPU temperature to 1.2-1.25, then gradually increasing the multiplier while observing stability at each step, keeping an eye on temperatures before moving on to the GPU.

What tool should I employ to assess the stability? Since Prime95 caused my system to crash repeatedly, even on stock settings, I need an alternative.

Update - Experienced some BSODs and post-BIOS crashes after trying to make minor adjustments to my CPU. Do you have a comprehensive guide for the specific motherboard I'm using? I'm keen to maximize performance without going overboard.

Update 2 - I upgraded the CPU to a 4790K with cooling from Corsair H100i.

Side note - I also retain my old Intel i5 750 @ 4ghz, using it stock for RAM speeds, which is part of my Server Box setup.

on 4790k try 4.5ghz and 1.25vcore seems to work for everyone, then gradually lower the vcore by 0.01v while running prime95. version 26.6
for 10 minutes, reduce vcore by 0.01v each time and run prime95
version 26.6 for 15 minutes gives a stable result. after that, set your vcore to the last stable voltage. for me it’s currently 4.6ghz at 1.22vcore and I’m satisfied with that.
if you’re using a z97 board which you likely are with the 4790k watch this

Yes, it would be different from the motherboard shown in the video.
