Hi.
I'm trying to connect this PSU with the following components:
Be Quiet 1200W 80 Plus Platinum STRAIGHT POWER 12 Full Modular ATX 3.1
and the ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI.
My previous PSUs always marked their CPU cables as CPU. On this PSU, are the P8 slots for the CPU cables? They seem to be called EPS here, but are those the CPU cables?
Can I connect them using P8 on the PSU side and the CPU pins on my motherboard? Would everything work fine?
Thanks and sorry for the simple questions.

It seems they labeled the EPS12V cables as P8 on the PSU for a specific reason, making it the appropriate connection point.

They are marked as p8 because it's the eighth item in the sequence. I haven't encountered that one before.

I hope I can provide you with a response, but this is my first encounter with it too, so I saved the manual just in case.

Yes, the EPS on p8 is compatible and should work properly.

The 8-pin CPU connector is frequently referred to as P8 or more precisely as EPS12V, as it serves to supply extra power to the CPU, particularly in advanced systems and when overclocking. The "P8" name probably stems from its layout: two groups of four pins, making up a total of eight pins.

i never saw p8, but i saw p4 (for 4-pin), since the pentium 4 was the first to use it, so p4 became the common name for it. pentium 8 isn't really common.

I recall using connectors named P8 and P9 on older (legacy) AT power supplies before ATX power supplies were developed. These were for CPUs from the 80286/386/486 era. In this scenario, P8 contained only six wires. I question if the P8 label on your new ATX power supply is connected to the old AT power supply design though.

appears to be merely a quiet label for EPS
