I'm struggling to boost my RAM performance to DOCP levels, almost.
I've switched from AM4 to AM5 recently, but stability with DOCP remains an issue. My Asus TUF B650 Plus uses the latest BIOS, and I have DOCP 1, DOCP 2, and a custom tweak option. All seem identical, which is confusing. When I switch to any of these settings, the RAM appears to run at 6200MHz, yet the system crashes during boot or games. Using Manual mode with 6000MHz RAM gives some stability, though I notice odd behavior. If I stick to AUTO, it feels like I'm not quite grasping the differences between these platforms. The BIOS on AM4 was much simpler, and this one has many unfamiliar features. Any suggestions for getting stability with DOCP enabled at the advertised speed? Also, setting it to 6200MHz in Manual mode causes crashes. It seems the motherboard might not support that speed despite the claims. Could be a hardware limitation or something I'm missing.
Achieving 6200 on an AM5 board requires significant work, with 6000 being the most efficient setting possible. Reports suggest that recent ASUS BIOS updates after X3D introduce poor memory support, which likely affects performance. You may need to stick with 6000 until better BIOS versions are released. Be cautious of the QVL and claimed memory speeds, as these were established before SOC restrictions, meaning many 6400-rated boards won't function properly. If your chip isn’t strong in memory controller quality, it could further limit success with 6200. To try, manually adjust the SOC voltage—some chips need around 1.3V for stability. If it works, consider disabling DOCP and inputting exact timing/voltage values to test compatibility.
Observe the instructions: avoid running EXPO / XMP on Asus AM5 boards. Ensure you use the most recent BIOS. After a few months, update the BIOS to the latest version, then try XMP again.
