I recently installed two Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro sticks at 3200mhz and aimed to push them to 3600. I activated XMP in the BIOS, restarted, and saw a hardware error message (exact wording fuzzy). After exiting, my RAM settled at 2666mhz. Can I still bring it back up to 3200?
Some BIOS tools will revert settings back to defaults when they fail to start, then boot you into BIOS. However, the enabled options stay the same for Asus boards, so you can keep adjusting without changing everything. Did you mean to re-enable? Try resetting BIOS to default and just enable XMP to see if it helps. What CPU model do you have and did 3200 run before?
My Asus board has XMP turned off for overclocking RAM but remains active in BIOS after the issue. Restoring it to disabled state resolved the problem. I have an Intel Core i7 11700k; previously, with RAM at 3200, everything worked fine.
