Have others tried this? What is the maximum length you can use for HDMI cables, the mouse and keyboard without experiencing input lag, etc.? Also, how can I avoid the fan noise and staying in a hot environment?

It might be possible to extend it to about fifty feet, though anything beyond that seems to create a lot of complications. Just accept it as it is.

USB 2.0 provides coverage up to 5 meters with a passive cable, but active repeaters spaced every 5 meters allow extending this range to a maximum of 30 meters or 98 feet. The connection remains stable, though active repeater cables may eventually fail. Higher-speed USB standards become less reliable at such distances.

Excellent quality passive HDMI cables can reach up to 15 meters or 50 feet, and an active repeater can match this distance to 30 meters or 98 feet. Using a pair of HDMI extenders that switch the signal over Ethernet or fiber-optic cable also works.

I recommend placing the PC outside the room—through a wall, floor, or even into a crawl space.

Would you like additional information?
Details are available.
Distance considerations vary; passive connections can work up to 15 feet.
Beyond that, higher cost repeater cables become necessary.
Please share your PC specifications.
Are there ways to minimize PC noise?
Yes, there are options to reduce noise.

I'm in a townhouse in Las Vegas, maybe I could place it at the bottom of the stairs and run the cables up. That would be...I don't know...30 feet?
Rig is an i5-12600KF, 64 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060TI
It's more about the heat than the noise, I think.
