You have two options for Wi-Fi adapters. You can choose a USB adapter, which is simple—just plug one in. Alternatively, you can opt for a PCI adapter, which connects directly to the motherboard via a PCI slot. PCI adapters often support higher speeds due to greater bandwidth, though I suggest using Ethernet if possible. If you must use Wi-Fi, consider an adapter that offers long-term reliability, such as one compatible with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).

Sure, I’d like a PCI Wi-Fi card because it looks more reliable compared to the USB options I’ve seen. Do you think your motherboard will support it?

from my search results, it appears motherboards typically come with a sufficient number of pci slots.

I tried to understand your question better. You recently purchased a card and considered opening your PC to clean it, but realized it might not fit properly with your cooler. You’re wondering if the Gigabyte GC-WBAX200 card is meant for the slot labeled 'PCIEX1_1' or if another slot would work instead. You mentioned there’s a large CPU cooler and that the card wouldn’t fit between the graphics card and cooler.

Perfectly fine, though you might also utilize the x4 port when it's free. The smaller slots correspond to standard PCI; just place the Wi-Fi adapter in a PCIe connector.

The second blue option works too. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible unless I change the cooler!

It supports PCI Express with a quad-speed configuration.

That's great! The package should be here by Monday, and I'll give it a shot.
