I have my Windows 7 installation ready. When I power on and switch to the CD drive, it’s accepted immediately, but the BIOS restarts without powering up. I’ve tried everything—restarting the PC, holding the reset button, even turning it off and on again. The disk drive won’t eject either. Is booting from a disk possible in 2017 BIOS anymore? This is confusing. I’m new to this and apologize if it’s unclear. I’ve also checked the Safe Boot option, but it’s hidden and doesn’t work. The issue persists even after a full BIOS reset, showing a blank screen every time I change settings. Please help me resolve this.
OK, there's your problem then, you need to inject drivers into the windows 7 installation, you'll have a bit of work to do here... you need to create a windows 7 installation disk/usb with usb3 drivers injected http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/ut...1482528015 https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMU..._Download/ I've seen loads of people fall into this problem with z170 boards, IMO it's easier to just use windows 10, but if you're insisting on using windows 7 I've linked you the tool above, and reference on asus website.
You must install the USB drivers for your motherboard in the Windows 7 ISO. There are no shortcuts known to me. Create a Windows 7 ISO, or obtain one, and then apply the tool provided to insert the drivers. You can either burn the ISO to a disc or use a USB drive afterward.
I've already tried all possible fixes and even tested Windows 10. It starts up but refuses to recognize the drivers.
