Hey! I have an AM5 build with the 7800X3D chipset, 4080s processor, Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX Ice, two 16GB RAM sticks at 6000 CL30 EPS, and Corsair RM1000E. Right now I’m experiencing a problem where my PC usually boots from a cold start, but after a restart it fails to boot again—usually requiring several restarts. Initially, I thought the Expo setting was the issue, but even with it disabled, the problem persisted, just like with default BIOS settings. The sequence I’m seeing is: power on → BIOS splash (Aorus loading) → loading gets stuck → Windows loading and RGB settings applied → screen goes dark → no display signal. I’m forced to restart multiple times before it works. My Expo 1 profile uses SoC 1.4v, which seems fine. I’ve tried changing the SoC to 1.15–1.25, reseating components, cleaning the cooler, updating drivers, and even using a different BIOS. The only solution that always works is setting my PCIe slot to Gen3 mode. This method gives instant boot. Any ideas or alternatives? Also, GPU RMA was completed and they said everything’s fine. I’m planning to request a motherboard return if needed. Thanks!
Bootlooping can also result from a power spike disrupting your power supply. Try using a different powerline boot method with a single stick RAM and disconnect all microphones, even the GPU if feasible.
There was an odd occurrence when I linked both the motherboard and GPU video connections. It booted properly via the GPU initially, but after a week, I removed the GPU and sent the board in.
Inspect the region around the PCI-E connector on both sides of the card, searching for thin cracks. I thought it might be a Gigabyte model, but I remain uncertain if this could be the real cause.
