I'm having trouble getting my new GPU to function properly—black screen and fan running at maximum speed.
I'm attempting to get my new PNY RTX Pro 4000 operational.
The BIOS interface appears functional, but the issue begins with the Linux Mint startup screen.
All monitors display a black screen, the GPU fan activates at maximum speed (possibly safe mode).
Previous steps I've taken include:
- Replacing the power supply unit
- Using a Corsair RM1000X with fresh cables
- Installing a new CPU (AMD Ryzen 5800X)
- Updating BIOS and NVIDIA drivers
- Configuring PCIe to Gen3
- Adding another RTX Pro 4000 GPU
- Relocating the GPU to a different PCIe slot
My motherboard is an ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F.
As soon as I installed the old GEForce RTX 2060, the system restarted normally.
Are there any additional steps I should consider? Thank you!

Which BIOS version are you using?
Open BIOS and check if
Above 4G decoding
is turned on.
Thank you for the warm welcome and your prompt response. After experimenting with various adjustments, your recommendation to turn on Above 4G decoding resolved the issue. The GPU is now functioning properly. Many thanks.
P.S. After enabling it, I discovered an extra option "Above 4GB MMIO Limit" which sets the default to 39bit (512GB). Based on my understanding, that should match the PC's 32GB memory. However, if this isn't accurate, please inform me. Thanks.
I'd asked another question about the same subject—hopefully it's acceptable to share it here.
I tried the first RTX Pro 4000 without changing any BIOS settings, and it worked initially. I even managed to run some graphics demos, but it crashed eventually (screens went black, fan ran at maximum).
Scan.co.uk tested it too; they got some results but also identified an issue that was fixed.
My concern is whether a particular setting could have caused the first GPU to fail after a short use.
