Use Task Manager, Resource Monitor, Performance Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to track performance on the devices in question. Keep these tools open and monitor for any variations between different activities and while gaming. The goal is to identify changes or differences when 144 MHz becomes available or is absent. It will likely require careful testing and adjustment to pinpoint the cause systematically.

It's not about the newest parts alone; the motherboard plays a key role. Just because it's newer doesn't guarantee superiority over an older laptop that's still functional. This system could have supported a high-end card, but the current setup only supports 10/100. Another possibility is that Windows 11 24H2 isn't stable, making it unreliable compared to other updates.

Thanks, let me investigate further. You mentioned consistent 1gbps speed between devices, so you're correct about performance. If the laptop displays 4k at 144hz in settings while running an app, it suggests the issue might be related to software configuration rather than a network problem. You don't seem to need an eGPU.
