I'm having issues resetting the BIOS on my motherboard.
Hello, I'm facing difficulties with resetting my BIOS and haven't discovered any fixes yet. I've adjusted the RAM speed from 2400MHz to 3000MHz, but nothing appears and no signal reaches the source. My system uses an ASUS Prime B450 Plus motherboard running at 3900x. I've experimented with placing metal objects between the CLRTC jumper, inserting the battery, shorting the jumper, and even removing RAM sticks, yet the issue persists. I've checked forums for solutions but haven't found a working result. I'm considering replacing the motherboard since it seems outdated. After 15 days of trying various methods, I'm unsure what to do next.
Unless ASUS changes its CMOS method, taking the battery out for about five minutes is the reliable way to refresh your BIOS. I’d feel just as puzzled if they hadn’t done it. If this isn’t helping, try installing another type of RAM—it should reset everything back to the original settings and let you get back in.
I agree that he has definitely reset the CMOS and ram timings/speed should be reset. Though there is also a reset CMOS button on that board. I'd assume either the motherboad, cpu, or ram is dead.
I don’t see anything likely to fail unless he touches the voltage levels too much. The only other idea is to replace the CPU and RAM to test if the system starts again. He uses a Ryzen 3 series, which might mean he upgraded from an older generation and has extra parts available. I’m not sure about the RAM situation.
Alternative scenario possible—maybe a sudden failure without a clear cause. Unknowns abound. If it begins but fails to post, and the CMOS was reset, chances are limited. Probably worth verifying the PSU with a tester to confirm proper power delivery to the motherboard.
I replaced the BIOS on a second-generation processor I lent to a friend.
I just reviewed the manual and found the under-pin definitions there, though it seems they may have omitted updating the part or relied on standard wording across several guides.
