I don't understand what to do. My R9 3900X with an RTX 3080 is running on a B550 ROG-EGA asus setup. I use an ultrawide 1440p monitor and consistently see low FPS in almost every game. For instance, CS2 at 4:3 1440x1080 gives me only around 160 FPS on medium to high settings. Everything seems updated, temperatures stay below 55°C. I haven’t tested any benchmarks yet, so I’m unsure if the GPU is failing or if my CPU is the issue. The BIOS defaults are set, and I’ve maxed out RAM without changing it. I’m not sure if it’s just a bottleneck or a faulty CPU. I’m also considering upgrading to a 5800X for about $30 if I trade in my current machine, or switching to an AMD Ryzen 5 but don’t know which option offers the best value.

@JustWonderingWhatToPick Gonna need more details. Is this a new build? Or have you upgraded it recently? Is the windows install new? What have you tried already to remedy the issues?

Perform tests on CPU alone using tools like Cinebench. Evaluate graphics performance and compare results. Use hwinfo’s sensor section with your games and capture relevant images.

Check if XMP is supported and consider reinstalling graphics drivers after fully removing them using DDU.

Yes, rebar is also referred to as a resizable bar and it is supported in BIOS.

Recently, I reinstalled Windows, but issues persisted. Everything is current except my BIOS, which I plan to fix next. XMP is active, though AI Tweaker seems set to auto instead of D.O.C.P. I noticed ReBar wasn’t turned on. After enabling it, my FPS in CS2 jumped from around 130 to about 180 on the same map and settings. I’ve run benchmarks on Cinebench and FurMark, but I’m not an expert in these tests. The monitoring was done on a CS2 train where my FPS fluctuated between 160 and 180. I linked the hwinfo sensor log file; I’m unsure if my performance is normal. Should I upgrade or continue troubleshooting? I’m hoping this helps, and I’ll share updates on other games like Rust or heavier titles. Ad.CSV
