I'm experiencing a surge, 5800x3d.
Today I was surprised when I looked at my system information and realized I had overlooked something. I upgraded to the latest motherboard BIOS, but now my 5800X3D isn't reaching 4450MHz in games. It still performs adequately in benchmarks such as Cinebench. Previously, it worked perfectly in games, including titles like Oblivion Remaster. I'm struggling to understand why it no longer functions as expected. Earlier, I used it on Combino Strike 3 (with -30) and adjusted the settings to match the motherboard's capabilities. Now it only reaches 3900-4000MHz. I tried resetting the BIOS, reinstalling chipset drivers, and double-checked the settings. The issue persists even though Ryzen Master doesn't show the curve optimizer option, which seems to be enabled in Cinebench. Additionally, the CPU is running at around 60°C and drawing only 40W. I'm reaching out to this forum for assistance, as I'm unable to identify the missing setting. Please help me resolve this. Thank you in advance.
Can it go further? Otherwise, a temperature threshold might be needed.
You can revert at any time if you're on Beta; please do that first and inform us. Submit this issue to MSI as well if you haven't already.
I tried reverting the drivers, but it didn’t resolve the issue. I’m back on the latest version since I thought reinstalling might help, but it didn’t. No improvements from tweaking the BIOS either. Nothing I adjust in the bios seems to restore the proper clock speed in the 4450 game I used to play.
After some adjustments, I revisited the BIOS, tweaked a few settings, and made sure both the AMD overclocking section and the main overclocking panel showed consistent values. I changed PPT, TDC, EDC to 100, 70, 100 and reinstalled Afterburner/Riva. It still shows the CPU running at 4450, but adrenaline says otherwise—it's actually around 3800-4100. Hwinfo confirms that range, so what do I think now? xD
