I'm always anxious about my PC to the extent that I seldom use it, despite needing it more often.
I've built it recently and theoretically it works fine, but I've encountered some issues with it and I'm worrying that it might stop working soon (I've had bad luck with laptops before and maybe thats why). I'm worried to the point that I don't use it often, even tho I should bcs I need to find an internship till July - I study CS and I was doing just enough to not fail my classes for the last couple of months. Most games and programming tools work properly, except Cyberpunk, 3DMark and VMware. I frequently encounter lighting/shading glitches in Cyberpunk. I've had issues with Space Marine 2 too (flickering particles and disappearing textures), but the last update fixed them completely, so maybe Cyberpunk will fix itself too. 3DMark's FMSIScan.exe crashes often (0xc0000005 exception, caused by atiadlxx.dll in the event log), sometimes causing incomplete monitoring data. It occurs with another error in the event log - Windows cannot load the extensible counter DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmain.dll" The specified module could not be found (only appears when running 3DMark) Few games/apps cause background 0xc0000005 exception, caused by unknown module (except 3DMark) in the event log (3DMark, WH Rogue Trader, Cyberpunk), but it doesnt seem to cause anything bad (except 3DMark). Linux VMs display some graphics artifacts, but only while the GRUB is booting. These things may not seem like serious issues, but they make me not want to use my PC. I'm afraid that it would break every time I turn it on. I've had it checked before I bought the GPU (first one was defective and I had to return it) and the person who did it said that everything should work fine. RE4, AC Valhalla, Rust and The Witcher 3 work properly. I've asked about these issues in a few places and everyone gives me a different answer (I think I tried everything). So idk what should I do. I've tried everything - reinstalling drivers and windows, updating BIOS, checking RAM, CPU, SSDs and GPU health with various programs (OCCT, Furmark, CrystalDiskMark, dxdiag, HWInfo, GPU-Z, cinebench), disabling and enabling EXPO/XMP and I couldn't find the cause. How to fix these issues? Or should I just stop caring about them? I've been diagnosed with depression. I often focus on minor concerns and don't know if that's okay. I've experienced several issues with computers before. The errors keep happening when I run the PC on iGPU.
I agree with your description. I’d definitely consider working with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist for your depression, OCD, and anxiety. While I’m not a medical professional, following the advice you’ve shared would be a good step. It’s self-limiting in some ways, but talking about these issues is important. Best of luck—there’s a lot you’re not sharing, and I’m sure there’s more to learn. Stay strong!
I often encounter comparable problems on nearly identical setups (with friends). Typically, a Windows reinstall fixes the issue. From what you shared, it seems the problem is likely related to software or, if hardware-related, could involve incorrect installation, an unstable BIOS update, or failing components like RAM, motherboard, SSD, or power supply. If it were hardware, the most probable parts would be RAM, motherboard components, CPU, storage drive, or power unit. I’d bet the most on a software glitch or an unstable RAM clock speed.
Adjusting RAM speed doesn't fix the problem. My PC functions adequately, but I'm unsure about the best course of action for these errors. It's possible my RAM might be contributing, even though tests indicate it's fine. I've also experienced UE5 access violation crashes while playing Oblivion remastered. EDIT: I attempted to re-seat my RAM, but now the PC is completely non-functional (CPU and RAM lights are on, it won't power off, no display), fml.
Don't worry, I've dealt with this before on my computer. It seems dust might be affecting the motherboard. Once it got that stuck, I cleaned it up and the system started working again. Regarding your concerns about hardware, it's normal to feel anxious when something isn't functioning properly. You don't need to stress too much about physical components like a laptop, since they tend to last longer overall. The main difference lies in software—Windows is becoming more demanding as Microsoft adds more advanced features, which require more resources. Right now, I have a Linux laptop nearby with an installed OS, and I'm planning to install some YouTube apps. I also have Jellyfin and Brave ready for streaming shows and movies. If you're curious, feel free to reach out to BoomerDutch.
One of my RAM modules failed (no idea why), but it's now working fine. Crashes in Oblivion might have been due to shaders. I reset the driver settings back to defaults and removed the shaders, yet it hasn't crashed since. I've only played about 2-3 hours after that, so I'm unsure if it's fixed. Before, there was roughly one crash per hour of gameplay on average.
EDIT: Still crashes, though. Does using two different RAM sticks (5600 16GB and 6000 16GB) affect stability? The guy who fixed my PC said it shouldn't matter.
