You're considering swapping your CPU, but AMD usually likes fewer RAM sticks and can be quite particular. I’d suggest getting a fresh pair of 2x16GB instead of trying to upgrade further. Still, I wonder what you’re aiming for that would really use more memory—gaming usually doesn’t reach 16GB.
I'm considering a Ryzen 7 5800X upgrade mainly because I need more RAM for handling multiple tasks at once, especially with three monitors open. I've also noticed my RAM usage hits its limit in some games and sometimes feels like performance is being limited. While Path of Exile is demanding in terms of CPU, RAM, and storage, I'm also working on graphic design and video editing. The idea of adding more RAM instead of buying a larger system is mainly about budget. With my current setup, I'm willing to spend around 45€ for a similar upgrade rather than at least 90€+ for a new one, especially if I aim for a system under 18 CAS latency with 2x16GB RAM. Plus, I don't want to deal with selling or disposing of my existing RAM, or worse, throwing it away.
