Original article The Old: The old combat system was a feedback loop that often went too far. Ship designs remain unchanged throughout the game, making it impossible to tweak them by adding components. There’s only one flight mode, and acceleration is consistently flawless. The afterburner just increases speed, while thrusters (MAVs) function properly even without the main engine.

This update combines several system adjustments. Instead of a single large power source, we now have multiple smaller units working together. Each feeds into the network that delivers power, heat, and thrust to different parts of the ship. Thrusters are designed for specific thrust levels, which can be increased beyond normal limits but at a cost. If the power units fall short, not all thrusters will run at full capacity, which affects overall ship agility and speed. Damage to the pipes can lead to thruster failure or even release thrust inside the vessel, posing risks to crew safety. The design also considers the ship’s weight, cargo distribution, and equipment load when determining performance. It’s a trade-off between power capacity and operational flexibility.

Quantum Drive is a module that can be upgraded, and not all vessels will need to travel at 0.2c. Certain non-UEE modules might achieve higher speeds than that.
