If you're using an i5-8400 or similar and have an ASUS MOMO, it's unclear if other boards work well. On my ASUS Prime H310M-K, enabling speedstep pushed the CPU to 3.9GHz all cores from the stock 3.8, so pairing it with a GPU over 1050Ti would give significant performance boosts.

Speedstep reduces the clock speed rather than increasing it. It lowers the frequency when the CPU isn't operating at its maximum capacity. This feature is also turned off when you want top performance. If you intended to disable it, it can do so, but enabling it will have the opposite impact.

I checked the details, but my old i5-8400 still maxes at 3.79 before speedstep even kicks in.

It would be enabled by default and there isn't really any reason to turn it off in the first place.
