IEEE-1394 adapter
IEEE-1394 adapter
I own an older film negative scanner (8 years old) that uses an IEEE-1394 data cable. It hasn't been used for a while, but now I'm able to scan long forgotten film negatives. The issue is that my desktop no longer supports such a connection. Could anyone advise if any IEEE-1394 6-pin to USB adapters available online would work? Are there other options as well? TIA
Certainly, I can mention the make and model of my scanner. I noticed the adapters I used relied on Google's image and standard searches. It's interesting to reflect on who currently uses FireWire, especially while organizing my Maximus II Formula and Rampage Extreme(X48) boards.
PCIe to FireWire details available at the provided link.
USB to FireWire options can be found on Amazon.
You must use a genuine IEEE-1394 controller. You cannot rely on an adapter. Even though many (not all) scanners from that era with IEEE-1394 ports also supported USB, actual compatibility depends on the specific device.
I'll use an internal card... safer to be cautious... Thanks to you all...
