Idle temperature at 5700x3d setting
Hardware details: Mobo model is Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wi-Fi, it runs as an ITX unit. CPU is 5700X3D upgraded from 5800X for better stability. Cooler uses Mastercooler 240ML AIO Dell OEM 3080 with 10GB RAM (2x16GB DDR4 at 3600/12mm fans). Airflow is set so exhausts on the case side and intakes from the front, keeping everything snug in a NR200 chassis. Issue: CPU idle temps consistently above 40°C, while Tctl/Tdie stay between 44–47°C. GPU temperatures also spiked after switching to the new CPU, reaching 47°C at idle—unexpected. I suspect the problem lies in idle cooling, possibly due to insufficient thermal paste application. Possible fixes: check if voltage is below 1.2V (RyzenMaster won’t let me), try adjusting paste quality, or inspect fans/pumps before removing the cooler.
The X3D design places the cache above the CPU cores, which means more heat must pass through that extra layer and the cache generates its own warmth before it can be removed. That’s why X3D chips have a reduced maximum temperature limit, preventing damage to the cache.
GPU temperatures returned to normal as well; the 3080 was running at 100W because of wrong window configurations. I’m not sure why this happened, since adjusting the CPU didn’t seem to fix it either—but it seems everything is now working properly. Really appreciated the helpful and generous people who are sharing their expertise! Thanks everyone!
