Hello everyone, I’m experiencing performance problems with my Ryzen 1700X. Initially, I noticed a strange framerate cap between 40 to 60 frames per second when playing games at mid settings alongside my RX 6800XT. I checked the CPU itself, which stayed cool at around 75°C while gradually losing voltage down to 1.065V. After about ten minutes, the clock stabilized near 3.0Ghz. When I adjusted it to run at 3.4 GHz at a lower voltage of 1.275V, it took nearly a minute to reach 95°C. After turning off the test, the temperature dropped back to 45°C within seconds. I used Fan Control to set all coolers—including the CPU—to full speed, but the issue persisted. I removed and re-applied the cooling paste twice. The system runs: MSI X370 Titanium Ryzen 1700X BeQuiet Pure Rock 2 Slim, with the fan pointing upward in a case built around 16 GB Corsair Vengeance AMD RX 6800XT (which I just installed yesterday; I hadn’t seen problems with my GTX 1070 before). A 700W quiet power supply (model not remembered) is connected, and I’m using a Phanteks P400S case from 2017 with two front intakes and one back exhaust. I’m running out of ideas and hope someone here has more experience or suggestions.

On the RX 6800XT, performance drops significantly at 4K resolution, though it remains usable.

It's just a short-term situation; I plan to update that as well this year. Still, that shouldn't change the problems with prime 95 according to what I know.

The problem seems to be with the frequency dropping at 75°C. It looks like the temperature rise is affecting stability. The power limit setting in BIOS might help with water cooling, but since you haven't used an AMD system recently, it could be related to that as well.

No, I'm not using the GPU's hot air for CPU cooling.

The fan, positioned away from the GPU, might be directing hot air toward it. The mounting brackets don’t support front or back installation, just up or down.

The signal is decreasing. Or alternatively, the processor could overheat without letting it fall. I’ll look into the power limit adjustment after I get back, though I’m uncertain if that will assist.
