Hello! I upgraded from a 3070 to a 5070 Ti and saw high CPU usage with low GPU activity in certain games. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900X, and upgrading would likely mean rebuilding an entire system. My desired resolution is 3440x1440. Others, what should I consider? Any upgrade ideas come to mind? Widescreen 1440p offers nearly double the pixels compared to standard 16:9 1440p. With a 5900X, you shouldn’t really face limitations since it runs smoothly on a 5070Ti. What are your other current specifications? Which games are you playing to achieve this? What frame rates are you achieving in these titles? And how do both of them perform with a bit more precision than high/low settings? For reference, there’s a much more affordable version of your build while keeping most features intact. I’ve cut RAM down to 32GB unless you really need it—64GB is only necessary if you have specific demands. That’s usually the case for people who aren’t sure if they’ll need more than that. Generally, those who opt for 64GB or more usually understand why. It’s quite economical to choose 32GB instead, saving half the cost. Also, I prioritized savings by reducing RGB options; if you’d like the colors back, I can adjust it for around £610. This is just a quick overview from PCPartPicker, August 8, 2025.

The 5900X might not be the fastest CPU, but it shouldn’t become an issue at 1440p. It could be a problem only if you’re using a 4090/5090 setup. If your goal is 1440p, does that imply you haven’t reached that resolution yet? At 1080p it’s clear a 5900X would struggle to keep up.

Reducing settings and using DLSS can help push even higher rates, but it may not match the performance of a 5070 Ti. Even with lower configurations, I often reach over 100 frames per second. However, I sometimes hit my monitor’s maximum of 170Hz.

Thanks for your feedback. I believe this could be the right match. I wasn't sure how a CPU would influence high frame rates, but I'm not experiencing low frames despite aiming for 80-100fps. My expectations were higher, around 200fps, possibly due to some games pushing more frames. The FPS cap in CS2 seems related to the monitor I have, an Alienware model from the 80s-100s depending on the game. YoungBlade mentioned DLSS might be trying to generate more frames, which could explain the limitation. I tried several games, but none showed a noticeable difference between the 3070 and 5070 Ti GPUs for that title. In CS2, adjusting settings gave me around 200 frames on average, which is close to what I'm seeing. I'm curious if other benchmarks will confirm this trend. It's not mainly about the RGB values; you might actually save more than £500 when including them again. Just focus on identifying parts that offer good value without relying too much on well-known brand pricing.
