I'm beginning to examine components for assembling a new AMD build and am considering CUDIMM modules. You're interested in Trident Z5 Neo RGB RAM, but you're having trouble distinguishing between standard DIMMs and CUDIMMs. I understand the IC inside CUDIMMs manages dynamic clocks, but I'm curious if part numbers can help identify them—whether it's a specific brand or model. It doesn't have to be G.Skill; I'm open to any reliable option unless you have preferences. I'm looking broadly across platforms and brands, aiming for optimal performance. In the future, you'll likely upgrade to 6000MTs for 7000 Ryzen and 6400MTs for 9000 Ryzen, targeting around 7000-8000MTs for extra efficiency. Thanks in advance!
A CUDIMM would only be high speed, I'd imagine, because there's no point doing that on a kit that is already fully stable. If you're buying 32GB I wouldn't bother going for overhead. Most kits above 6000 are optimised for Intel/XMP, so you might end up doing a manual config if the profiles don't exist for operating at lower speeds (not nice with DDR5!). The X3D CPUs are less sensitive to memory speed too, so I doubt it will be a major performance issue and by the time you upgrade you might as well just dump the 32GB kit and buy 64GB.

For typical JEDEC spec modules, it's noted that at 6400 or higher all will use CUDIMM. When XMP/EXPO comes into play, things become more varied as makers have flexibility. Check the current speeds without CUDIMM and anticipate a shift to CUDIMM for releases above that threshold. As this technology is still in its infancy, consider purchasing proven options now or keep an eye on future availability.
The announcement of X870 boards and MSI's mention of CUDIMM support indicates it depends on the CPU. We're unsure if this applies to X670E/X670 or if we'll need to wait. This decision will likely influence whether I choose an X800 series board or an X600 series one.
