besides the issues, the game works well overall. I’m really getting into it, especially since long waits are normal for a new free-to-play MMO. They didn’t overload servers with too many, which is good. If you’re thinking about joining: spend a month as a subscriber for $15. It cuts queues from 1-2 hours down to just a couple of minutes, and the extra perks are worth checking out.
On the downside, I’m confused about some performance numbers. My SLI has 2,760 cores, temps around 50°C, usage near 50%, and only about 1.5GB of RAM used. My CPU is an FX 8320 overclocked to 4.1GHz, running at 45-50°C, with no core exceeding 50%. I haven’t tested my RAM yet—8 seems sufficient.
I’m getting around 30 FPS on ultra settings and about 30 on high, even though GPU usage is around 50%. This doesn’t make sense. Shouldn’t the GPU be fully utilized to hit 60 FPS or more? In other games I play without Vsync, performance drops dramatically when it’s off, but the hardware still works at full capacity. Maybe something’s not matching up here.
It seems like the issue might be related to a poorly optimized game or suboptimal handling of dual graphics setups. This is just my interpretation based on the situation you described. But examining the details I can only suggest possible causes.
sadly there isnt even the option of fullscreen windowed or i'd use it, so yeah, its fullscreen. i'll try non-SLI with just the single 760 and see if it uses 100% of it when i get home tonight, but its not a "new" game like most others, its been out in russia for ages.
The only choices are fullscreen or windowed, and windowed provides the borders. (I’d rather not, I use two monitors) And yes, I’m running the newest beta drivers.
I didn't actually check the settings myself, but I can confirm whether a frame limiter is set to 30 FPS if you provide the relevant information.
I'm planning to log into the game and explore what's available. I have 40 minutes waiting in line. I haven't paid for this game yet because I'm unsure if it's worth it. I believe Black Desert will be the next MMO I actually invest time in once I can afford it.
I only covered the queues this month, but with just 2-3 hours a day and spending 2 hours waiting, it doesn’t feel great. I really enjoy player-owned ships, though—yarr! This should keep me going until Star Citizen.
