Identify performance issues on network storage devices on Windows Server 2022.
I have a server (Dell T620) running ESXi 6.5 and hosting a NAS on a Windows Server 2022 VM. File transfers are only reaching about 6mbps. The connection uses Cat6 to the switch, and I've tried disabling caching on the share and adjusting registry settings.
The host configuration uses a Dell T620 with dual E5-2630 processors, 32 GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It includes two 8TB NAS drives, six 2TB drives, and two 300GB HDDs. Devices running Windows 11 and macOS 12.3 are connected. Interestingly, the wireless Macs perform better than the hardwired Windows machines and my Surface laptop. I’m not employing VLANs on the virtual machine. My home network features VLANs to isolate my main LAN, guest network, and IoT devices.
