Hey. I've got a Windows 10 that has some sort of issue I haven't been able to identify. The symptom is audio stutter that happens randomly when using the system. Mostly when playing videoes on youtube or in MPC-HC. I've had the issue with Windows 10 x64 build 1909 as weell as the new 20H2 I've tried updating all the drivers I could find new files for and I've checked that I have the newest bios. The stutter reminds me of when a harddrive fails, so I invested in Hard Disk Sentinel a month or two back, but other than constantly complaining about the nvme drive overheating (gets to 68C occassionally) it hasn't found anything to complain about yet. Does anyone know of a program that can monitor various things and possibly pick up on what the system's doing while the stutter happens ?

Reinstall the audio drivers and reset all audio settings back to their defaults. Also, ensure fast boot is turned off.

Use Procmon or Task Manager to check for issues; you might need to terminate processes during testing. ImDisk Toolkit allows generating a RAM disk for performance analysis, especially if latency concerns point to storage problems. Also, consider using PotPlayer since it includes its own codecs.

procmon and task manager refresh their graphs every second, and the stutter should be under a tenth of that time. So far, they haven’t displayed anything. I’ll give it another shot with other options.

The issue stems from a combination of YT and local files, so the operating system and software installed on the relevant drive are likely the source of the problem. Focus on monitoring changes in drive activity or CPU usage. Check for any software processes that might be running, such as indexing or audio/video scans.

I've invested some time and possibly resolved the problem. The exact cause remains unclear. I removed unused programs with services or drivers, cleared the control panel, and uninstalled various drivers through the settings. I also ran DDU to eliminate remaining drivers. After testing in safe mode, everything worked smoothly—no stuttering. Later, I updated the latest chip drivers and nzxt software. During a Skype call lasting over an hour and YouTube running for 10 minutes without issues, it became evident that cleaning up potential conflicts likely fixed the matter.
