Interesting fact: sometimes the issue goes beyond just discomfort and can actually prevent a game from launching completely. I encountered this when trying to run Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on my 5950x (16c/32t) setup—it would crash right away after a short session. After some research, I found someone with a similar experience who suggested using Process Lasso. This tool lets you keep only a few selected cores active while hiding the rest, which helps avoid crashes on systems with more than four cores. It seems hyperthreading really doesn’t like it.
