No major crashes occurred while the PC was running, but it stopped abruptly in Lost Ark. It didn’t start normally in Windows 11 or the repair mode, and the USB installer also failed to boot. I’m planning to make a bootable Linux image from the USB and will check if that works.

I own a machine equipped with an Intel i7-14700k and am facing the same problem where launching into Windows takes only 5 to 10 seconds, followed by freezing and locking. Even in safe mode it becomes unresponsive after a few seconds, and reinstalling Windows causes issues during setup.

It was a completely failed CPU, damn it—14700k died in under an hour of heavy use. And yet I still believed in Intel!

This gives me some optimism. I placed an order for a replacement 12700k to test. However, Intel has left a bitter taste with this experience. It hasn’t been my CPU in a year and it’s already failing. I’m thinking about switching to the 9800x3d since that’s what I’m really into.

It seems the 12-gen model performed well without issues. Around 15 to 20 PCs using 12,700/12,900 at the launch in late 2021 have remained mostly operational, with no complaints reported so far.
