Identify GPU problems Resolve graphics card issues
I owned an outdated PSU (Corsair HX1000W) from a refurbished system, and it seems it caused the issue. Timing was poor since I had new components ordered (i5-12400 and Gigabyte B660M). I didn’t attempt another test until after installing the new parts. The machine wouldn’t stay on, flickering the fan lights before powering down, and I had to unplug it to repeat the process. I concluded the faulty PSU was the culprit and replaced it. I checked without the GPU, but didn’t verify compatibility with an integrated GPU. Recently, I got a fresh PSU and the same problem occurred. This time I followed a similar procedure but connected my monitor to the integrated GPU, and everything booted up correctly without it. I’d prefer using a dedicated GPU instead of an integrated one, so any advice on troubleshooting would be helpful. The new PSU is Segotep’s 750W gold, paired with a GTX 1070-TI GPU. Edit: With the GPU in the motherboard and the PCIe slot unused, everything boots fine without a display. Updated October 3, 2022 by TheBoomer
Updated the motherboard drivers and reinstalled the GPU, but the issue persisted. It seemed challenging to fully secure the PCIe cable into the GPU slot, possibly due to loose pins or other connections.
Pins appear intact, the card shows no signs of harm, and the connector looks undamaged.
It doesn't seem to have any damage, though the PCI wasn't inserted easily.
The issue was that the PCIe slot in the new PSU differed from my old one and didn’t match the GPU requirements. Luckily I found another one (the previous was semi-modular, this one is fully), and everything is functioning properly.
