I'm thinking about adding an M.2 NVMe slot to graphics cards, similar to what the RTX 3080 has. It might reduce bandwidth, but it could be turned off without needing a drive. The idea came up after noticing a component on that card that resembled an M.2 motherboard heat sink.

That's not practical. The PCB has no room for this, it would appear poorly, increase expenses and add a lot of difficulty, and I doubt anyone would actually need it.

You might be curious about the options available, like M.2 to PCIe adapters, and wonder if adding a powerful GPU is worth it.

he wasn't planning to use a gpu built for the m.2 form factor, right? i hope it could work but think about how tough it would be to make that size. we're not even close to a year when we can achieve that—exp gdc does have an option for external gpus: https://www.newegg.com/p/1DW-002N-00002?Description=exp gdc m.2&cm_re=exp_gdc m.2-_-9SIA6TJ6NX2380-_-Product&quicklink=true

well that's kinda confusing me are you saying that maybe modern gpus would have an m.2 slot? i dont think there's a reason to do so if that's the case

Why not. No one said ideas have to be good.

It seems GPUs might include an M.2 port, but looking back it doesn’t make much sense. This was just a fleeting thought.

Only those who would invest in addressing an issue that doesn’t exist should be considered.
