I just received my new Samsung 990 Pro from Newegg and had to install it. I took out the GPU and inserted it into the slot. Then I cut half of the CPU power to get a plug in, turned it on, and it booted into BIOS but the drives are detected though no boot drives appear. After reinserting the CPU power, I followed the instructions again, but nothing worked. I’m still trying to figure out what’s wrong with the specs—Ryzen 9 7950X, 32GB DDR5, G-Skill 6000 MHz, RTX 4090, EVGA P Series, 1200W power supply, ASUS Strix B650-F.
Hi there, it seems your new Samsung 990 Pro isn't being detected as a boot drive. Here are some steps you can take to fix this: Verify that the SSD is correctly installed on the motherboard and all connections are secure. Review the BIOS settings to confirm the SSD is listed and set as the main boot device. If everything looks good and the issue remains, consider updating the motherboard's BIOS to the latest version. Should the problem continue, try using a different SATA cable or inspect the motherboard for any damage or loose parts. If you still can't get the SSD recognized, it might be faulty. In that case, reach out to Samsung or the retailer for help.
To choose the Boot Drive order in Bios, navigate to Boot Drive SSD Order instead of Boot Device Preference. Are you sure the m.2 device isn’t listed at all? You’ll need to install an operating system first. If your installation was done in Legacy mode and you attempt to boot using UEFI only, no bootable drive will appear. Change to Legacy and UEFI settings.
