Hello, I just rearranged an identical set of 2x8 CL 16 LPX Vengeance RAM and verified it shares the same serial as my existing unit. Yet the latest package uses Samsung chips while the one I had a few years back contains SK Hynix. Clearly I was using the first model in A1 B1 as advised in my manual. I placed the new set into the unused slots. I'm curious: should I swap the RAM so both old units share a channel and the new ones another? Might this affect performance?

Edit: If anyone sees this, my problem was fixed by swapping the sticks—both new ones in one channel and both old ones in another. I think the differing versioning on the RAMs caused slight internal delays, leading to gameplay hiccups. Updated February 20, 2023 by kaosthe1st

Is the system operational now? If so, refrain from making changes. If not, proceed cautiously as adjustments might assist in resolving the issue. There shouldn't be noticeable performance variations by simply turning on XMP. Only manual overclocking offers significant gains, especially with Intel processors where channel timings can be fine-tuned.

It’s functioning but causing some issues. I’m about to reset the CMOS to refresh the memory. Also, I’m using an AMD system.

Perform a memory stress test to verify stability. Likely just a random occurrence—maybe a background Windows update triggered it. AMD hardware tends to be more sensitive to mixed memory settings, so stay cautious.
