Searching for a short-term CPU swap after my x79 failed. Switched to an am4 with 8GB 3200 viper RAM. Currently single-channel setup, planning to upgrade later. Budget around £30/$40. Noted seeing an A12 9800 for £25—should I consider it? Best suited for Apex Legends and Forza Horizon 4 at most, not heavy gaming.

You're looking at a 1200 model around $50, and if you're willing to pay a bit more, a 1600 might be available for the same price. The board in question is likely a specific model or type of equipment.

This choice doesn't work well with older BIOS versions on the initial generation boards.

I’m looking at an A320 board from ASRock. My budget is only £30, so I have to be careful. The 3000g model looks promising—seems like a solid alternative.

Would a 3000g be a more suitable choice? I didn’t realize you were using an RX 570 instead of an integrated GPU.

It would really help if the product weighed around 3000 grams, that would definitely improve things.

Sure, the fact that it has a quad-core processor didn't give much clarity about its design, and it was hard to locate real benchmarks since most were just approximations.

Beyond the basics, there are factors like IPC, FPU, and cache design that matter too.

Yes, but the latest titles are leaning toward more cores. Coming from a Xeon 2630, there are many threads and cores, but it’s fewer than expected. I haven’t experienced dual-core performance yet, so I’m unsure if my graphics will be stable or not.

I have been using my 360 as entertainment during lockdown, my motherboard died 2 months ago and I've been saving for a system since, I do not want to sell anything else, I would rather suffer lower frames and stutters on some games than wait for my quarantine to be over when I can get another job, so I'd like a 1200, I can't afford one or I will be waiting until next year when zen 3 is out and the 1200 is at a reasonable used price, it's currently£70/£100 and I haven't seen it cheaper apart from china, I don't want to wait
