Only two official guidelines are known: Cat 6 and Cat 6a. Cat 6 supports 10 GbE over distances up to 55 meters (165 feet). Cat 6a extends this to about 100 meters (~328 feet). Cables longer than these limits may not meet the spec, though performance could still be acceptable. For 1 GbE, it might still function properly.
