Hey there! I'm trying to figure out the best path forward with my new setup. I bought the MSI B450 Max and a RYZEN 5 3600, along with Corsair Vengeance CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18 sticks. However, the Corsair site only shows X570 boards as compatible for this memory type. My B450 supports up to 3466+OC speeds, but the RAM is 3600mhz. I'm on a budget and don't want to wait for a refund to get the X570. I need to start gaming right away because my current AMD FX 8350 GTX 780 setup with a 60Hz monitor isn't working well enough. Do I have to upgrade to an X570 board, or can I stick with lower speeds on my B450 Max? What are my choices? Thanks for any advice!
You don't require the X570 for this memory. It might not appear in the supported list, though it generally works without issues.
Yes, it's possible to push the memory beyond the motherboard limit by using advanced BIOS settings or firmware updates.
