I came home from work this morning to find a box on my desk. Inside was an i9-9900k. When I checked it, I saw that my kids and parents had upgraded me! I’m okay with my 8700k, but I don’t want to let them down or waste the CPU power. What should I do? Should I return it and get their money back for something I really needed? Put it in my system and use the 8700 for another build? My kids can’t run it—they all have Ryzen systems I built them up last Christmas. I know my setup can handle the 9900k, but what should I do?

Or sell the 8700k, use it for a NAS or home server, and keep the 9900k for yourself—thank them for that cool gift!
@WereCatf is excited about the upcoming Zen3 build. They're preparing for the new GPUs this fall and have been saving for them. @TofuHaroto they're unsure if the small increase is worth it compared to the thermal paste cost. They checked with their brother-in-law, who opted for a Ryzen 3700 instead.
