Hey there... this topic might get a lot of attention, but I'm one of the last PC builds from Artesian Builds that actually shipped. My specs are: Intel I9-12900KF 32 GB (2*16gb), Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Asus Prime Z690-P DDR4 1TB SSD, 2TB SSD, 4TB Mechanical (Seagate) 750W EVGA Supernova PSU. Because of heavy development work and running a few VMs via Hyper-V, I wanted more RAM—so I bought the same type at Newegg and doubled it to 64GB. After installing, Windows froze. I tried booting after a hard reboot and holding the power button; the BIOS also froze. I removed all RAM, both old and new, then put the new ones in the 2nd and 4th slots. BIOS recognized them but Windows still wouldn’t load, freezing in the middle. XMP was enabled at 3600MHz, which matches my RAM, but it didn’t work. The old RAM still functions perfectly. Any suggestions? I’ve already started an RMA, but I really hope I can get this to work so I have the RAM I need.
The DDR4 memory compatibility for the 12900KF reaches up to 3200 MHz. Speeds beyond that are likely overclocking and may not function reliably. With Alder Lake being a new architecture, initial memory support was uncertain. Getting four sticks to boot can be particularly challenging. J2C recently posted a video discussing this issue. Have you considered updating the motherboard to the newest BIOS? Such updates can often enhance memory performance. Based on how Artesian was configured, it seems unlikely they received a BIOS update despite its importance for Z690 systems.
Certain Z690 boards, especially from Gigabyte, experienced problems with DDR4 during the release phase.
I verified and fortunately they performed a BIOS update, which shouldn't be the issue. I'll capture a screenshot of the BIOS version once it's available. The J2C video was intended for DDR-5, or perhaps specifically for it...but it could relate to DDR-4 as well.
