VCCSA began with the second-gen Core i chips (“Sandy Bridge”), renaming the voltage to VCCSA and labeling it the “system agent.” It supplies the PCI Express controller, memory controller, and display engine (the “2D” graphics part). VCCIO became available with the same CPUs, powering all I/O pins except memory ones. Regarding memory speed, when XMP is enabled, VCCIO/VCCSA can reach its maximum independently on those processors.
XMP is the configuration that sets the RAM specifications. After increasing the overclock to 3800, temperatures rise significantly. I plan to test the recommended voltage settings next.
